Cannot generate bitmap fonts

Could someone point me please a bitmap font generator that WORKS?
I tried FontBuilder but it seems to generate bad XMLs.
I tried BM but it doesn’t export XMLs.
I tried online Littera but it doesn’t work anymore because it needs Flash plugin.

I am completely at lost here and getting 120% frustrated with the use of fonts in Phaser 3.

PS: Maybe I should downgrade to Phaser 2 CE? It seems that things are a bit more straightforward with it?

bmfont → Options → Font settngs → Add font file

Milton, thanks for replying!
It took me a little while to figure that I had to rename the .fnt file to .xml.
