When searching the Inet for Phaser 3

Friendly word of advice to all concerning Phaz3r. Always look at the date of the article, tutorial, examples, ad nauseum  . Not many new folks know that pre2017 articles are talking about Phaser 2. Phaser III changed from Lazer Jan 2017 with teaser updates until Aug 2017 ("a month that will live in infamy!). The official release of Phaser III was FEB 2018.

Hope @rich Davey steps in and write the history as he did in the old forum … hint, hint

I hope that I am not intruding. I am also new to Phaser 3. A search keyword I was using on regular basis was “phaser3” followed by a sentence of my question. I think that google is responding very well.

It often involved with frequent visits to https://labs.phaser.io/ as well as https://github.com/photonstorm/phaser and its issue tracker (use search within the repo).

I learned that the official dev log is an essential reference to find out important changes and new features : https://phaser.io/phaser3/devlog

And yet more as follows as I was using matter js physics engine for my game:

Tweens references (tweens timeline is super useful in e.g. show random in-game events with having to sync audio, controlling patterned movement):

There are things in early stages in Phaser 3 that we used to use in Phaser 2 such as:

  • Sound (I had a problem with looping sound. I could loop music in Phaser 2 without lag but could not in Phaser 3)
  • Full screen (I had an impression that going into full screen was easier in Phaser 2)
  • Scaling (I ended up with using CSS)

Yes, I feel your pain too. Phaser III is newly launched; it’s as if we’ve stepped back to the early days of Phaser 2 when the community rallied and shared information and created a wonderful base-line of documentation. This is what’s happening now with PIII.
