Odd behavior with tile maps and moving the camera

Hi all,

I’ve been experimenting with isometric tile maps using the Phaser Camera with Smooth Key Controls. I’ve noticed some strange behavior.

When the scene starts, everything looks great. But as I move the camera down, the tiles start getting clipped. Here’s an example:

I’m using the Kenney assets featured here.

Has anyone else seen this issue? I’m not sure if it’s a problem with the Tile Map management or the camera itself. Any suggestions or pointers would be super helpful!

Here are some details:

  • I put the assets into a sprite sheet, but I kept all the white space from the source assets.
  • Zooming in or out of the camera also affects the clipping.
  • Only the top tiles are clipped. Never the left or right tiles.

Here’s the Kenney Isometric tile info:

I’m pretty sure I’m doing something wrong, but any suggestions on where to start looking would be awesome!

I’m not sure if it’s a Phaser problem. It doesn’t seem to happen on tilemap/isometric/view/isometric-test. But setCullPadding() will probably fix it.

Thank you so much and setting the cull padding was EXACTLY what I needed. Everything working as expected!
